Just finished my flow through with the addition of screens for the top and lower areas. Filled to capacity with unfinished compost from my conventional composter and my bedding mix. Initial outside weather was highs in the 50′s and lows down close to freezing-which is why I wanted the compost to help raise initial heat. But weather changed quickly to the 80′s unseasonably and I added the screens. Now and in the summer I will just leave the top slightly raised to keep out the rain, screens to keep the larger bugs out and the bottom open for ventilation. Temp. is maintaining in the mid 70′s so far.

Hope to have the 1st true harvest near the end of April. The harvesting bolt/rods appear to work great. Check out the end of the video for a sampling of how I will harvest.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
