  • http://www.denlorstools.com/home/dt1/smartlist_2192/rescue_bit.html How to remove broken taps, easy outs and drill bits. When working on cars one of the most difficult problems I can remember is dealing with broken bolts, taps or easy outs. Broken bolts can be anywhere on the car. It can be broken manifold bolts, head bolts, transmission bolts, accessory… really anywhere. The problem is the same no matter where the bolt is. Removing the broken bolt without damaging the threads if possible and moving on to complete the job. When removing a broken bolt, it’s best to use a center punch to mark the center of the broken bolt. This helps prevent the drill bit from walking off to the side so you can drill down the center. Using a left handed drill bit is a good idea. And it’s a good idea to keep some left handed drill bits handy just for this purpose. When drilling the center of the broken bolt with a left handed drill bit, sometimes the bit can catch the bolt and spin it out of the hole. This can happen if the bolt is just broken and the threads are still good and not crossed. If the bolt comes out your problem is solved. If the bolt does not spin out when using the left handed drill bit, an easy out (EZ Out) broken bolt extractor can sometimes be used. The EZ out can sometimes grab the broken bolt and remove it. Be careful though. Sometimes people put too much force on an EZ out and it can break off too. It’s anything but easy to remove. The metal compound that drill bits, EZ out bolt extractors and thread taps are made of is very hard and brittle. A regular drill bit cannot drill into them. There are companies that base their entire business on broken tap and extractor removal. They use specialized equipment to disintegrate the broken material. These are companies are are hard to find and sometimes the entire piece has to be removed, stripped and shipped to them for removal of the broken piece. It is simply not feasible to remove an engine, and ship a bare block to a company to remove a broken piece of tooling. We have been selling the rescue bit. The rescue bit looks like a normal bit, but the metal compound is harder than what’s used for drill bits, taps and easy outs. What it can do is truly amazing. Check out the video to see what it does. It’s definitely worth a try before seeking out a specialty broken tooling removal company and possibly having to ship a heavy piece half way across the country. from the album “Psoriasis (1996, Four Ways To Rock)” (reissued in 2000 on Metaforesics).

Lyrics (by Jesse Dangerously with a few interventions on my behalf. Holler if you have corrections):

I’ve got a suit case filled with trophies, marking mile stones
I’m looking for answers, and all I get is dial tones
or at best the chance to advance in little stages
but it hasn’t been enough to escape the middle ages
trying to make excuses to justify the set back
got the silver lining dominated by a jet black disturbance
and while some fall back on certain posses
they won’t have me around to front on when the curtain closes
cause who in the right mind wants to be the last man standing
in the middle of the wreckage from a crash landing
I’m tired of cute raps, and waiting for a chance to shoot crap
so I’m picking myself up by the boot straps
holding the weight has been giving me some cramps
and a tense neck and I’ve had to rely on defense mechanisms
to cope on whole or impartial parts
I didn’t learn discipline by studying martial arts
cause when all is said is done and all of the things is [scratched]
there’s always gonna be strings attached
being a man in this town can lead to lots of problems
processed in the rumour mills up and down the gossip columns
the keeper of the master keys standing in bullshit
that comes up pass the knees, I’ve had it with the last of these plastic emcees
and the shine of the gloss from the polish
so bow and make the sign of the cross, cause I’m outta here

I’m fed up with the jealousy, the greediness and all the lies
I can’t stand watching someone back down to apologise
and I couldn’t take, seeing people getting stabbed in the back with a wooden stake
so what’s it gonna be, the zipper or the button fly?
the answers to some questions are never quite so cut and dry
I was hoping to be be around to finally see the session start
but 1970 something dash question mark
got me wondering if it’s true that father knows best
and if an emcee can still be east coast when he goes west
from in the crows nest I’ve seen some things to make your skin crawl
and when I come down, I expect to collect my windfall
but who knows, in a town of rampant incest
where everybody wants to be treated like a princess
I’ve been checking the clock, concentrating on the little hand
11 hours later, it’s time to to cut out the middle man
